Parols are a part of my Filipino culture. here’s a blog post i found about its history and here. these are mini versions of what you would see hanging in front of homes back in the Philippines (PI). Every year around this time in the PI there are all kinds, colors, sizes of these throughout each neighborhood/city. my most memorable and funnest moments of these beautiful lanterns, are the GIGANTIC ones made by each province, parading at night with all the beautiful lighted colors. and i mean HUGE!!!! Here’s a little bit about them.
I wish i had the photos back in my kiddo days to show you. they’re all with my parents back in Washington State. Someday I may share them, but the links above, will give you good idea. i miss those times!

but these will have to do for now. mini ones that I’ll be playing up in Photoshop and possibly in Illustrator to make art prints and patterns with…

I kept the tails separated out from each of them, because I will be duplicating them in PS/AI and playing up the colors on them for each lantern.
Here’s a look at the original tails..

so adorable, aren’t they?
i plan on playing with them sometime this week and possibly adding them to my Society6 and RedBubble shops.
FYI… talking about shops… through December 2nd, all items in my Etsy shop are 20% off and of course shipping is FREE! if you order on 12/2, I will make sure it mails out on 12/3 or the next business day. (I close shop temporarily from 12/3/2021 – 1/2/2022 to focus on mailings and I will be going on vacation during that time). HURRY UP!
so back to it… aren’t these lanterns cute? awww…. LOL.

can’t wait to play with these! have an awesome week! xoxo.
