Calligraphy + Art Projects – December was BUSY!

special delivery to a happy client…

HAPPY NEW YEAR! How was your holiday and how did you bring in the new year?

I’m finally getting back into the routine of work after a busy season client projects, classes, vacation and being with family this past holiday. I miss having 12 people in our house! YES i do!

But… it’s business as usual.

Here’s a recap of what happened in December….

Classes…. 3 of them at BeeZr, Fractal Brewing Project and Athens Ale House. and these were the name/place cards and acrylic ornaments I made for each class. Everyone had such an awesome time, they loved their cards and ornaments. And learning calligraphy was a plus especially for holiday greeting cards, gifts, signs, etc.

Here’s my schedule for the year…. I’ve added 2 new types of calligraphy classes, intermediate and brush lettering over here:

then client projects kept me busy too…

Client Project: “Mark” (created in Procreate using watercolor brushes)

This was a gift from a wifey to a hubby on for his New year’s Eve birthday.

Then I delivered this to a wonderful bride….

these place cards are in ivory smooth cardstock, black ink, deckled edges all around. I may do a quick tutorial on how I did these in a future post. I have to say and be very honest, these took a LOT of TIME to do, more than I expected. But they turned out beautiful and my client just loved them!

Just an FYI… I will definitely be raising my prices for place cards especially with the add-ons (i.e, deckling edges).

And on December 16, 2022, I did my first every on-site, live calligraphy services gig for Maker’s Mark at the the Windmill Beverages retail store here in Owens Cross Roads…

It was such an honor to do calligraphy for everyone who came by. This experience was so fun and I would definitely do it again! My fave label to do was the “Puff Daddy.” You can read about the story here.

I can’t wait to do another live event! I don’t plan on doing it on a regular, but once in a blue moon would be ok with me.

I did a lot of envelope addressing for a special holiday card

I’ve got a big envelope addressing order coming up and I’ll be sharing my process on my IG in the future. My goal with envelope addressing is doing a minimum of 0-1 per month or 1-2 per quarter. I think that is all i can handle for now. (Prices for this service will be increasing as well).

What else is in store for the year?

Classes… (I’m booked through May and any new bookings between now and the future, the ticket price will be $70 per ticket for public venues. Prices will vary for private, corporate and one-on-one sessions).

Custom orders…. i’m accepting orders now with deadlines due in February. Please book at least 4 weeks out. Rush Fees are applicable for any custom orders needed in 4 weeks or less. (Each project takes time to do and this includes time to get the materials and supplies, testing, sketches, communication, etc).

Print-on-Demand… I’ll be updating my shops little by little with new art work. Special request? let me know!

Etsy Shop… Sadly, I will be closing the doors on this one in about 4-6 months and see how things go. Honestly, I just have not been able to focus my time on it as much as I would like to. I will probably in the near future, will be discounting the majority of the listings before I close it down. So be on the look out on it.

Blogging/website…. my plans are to update this website little by little and blog posts will happen once or twice a month (that seems to be what I am able to do right now).

Well that’s the recap in a nutshell…. I am looking forward to what’s to come this year!
